Biomedical Engineering Group (GIB)

The Biomedical Engineering Group (GIB) is a multidisciplinary research team associated with the University of Valladolid. It is mainly formed by Engineers and Medical Doctors specialized in various areas, such as neurology, neurophysiology, psychiatry and ophthalmology, that collaborate in different research lines. The GIB has a wide experience of biomedical signal processing, specifically in EEG and MEG signals. Currently, the group is applying this experience to the signal processing stage present in BCI systems to allow people with severe disabilities to interact with their usual environment.

Bioengineering Group, Spanish Research Council (CSIC)

The goals of the Bioengineering group are to research and develop techniques to understand and control human biological systems and its interaction with the environment from an engineering point of view. In this context, our goals are not limited to the analysis and evaluation of the body functions and structures but also to the compensation of disability and dependence in several pathologies. In addition, we are interested on human performance enhancement, either in health applications or to improve the self-sufficiency of disabled people. The fields of knowledge of the Department belong to Control, Automatics and Computation Science. The work performed here involves the biological data acquisition and processing, including the data analysis of biological data and the modelling of biological systems. In different phases of this process, it is possible to add other types of knowledge that could guide or complement the data analysis. The final aim of this process is to design autonomous physical devices which are able to communicate and to adapt to changes in the environment and that allow multimodal bidirectional communication channels with the user.

State Reference Center (CRE) for Disability and Dependence

The CRE for Disability and Dependence depends on the Institute for old people and social services (IMSERSO). It is a specialized and advanced research, innovation and information center related to people with severe disabilities. It is focused on personal care, rehabilitation, education and social integration.
